Embedding sustainable practices into Finchatton developments

How is Finchatton embedding the principles of sustainable development in future projects?

With the Future Homes Standard targeted to be introduced next month, the development sector is watching closely for the launch of the new Home Energy Model (HEM) software and its associated metrics.

Although it is likely that the introduction will be delayed until early summer, the standard, which ensures that new homes built in England will produce 75-80% fewer emissions than those built under current building regulations, is a critical step in the UK’s strategy to meet its net zero target by 2050.

At Finchatton, a commitment to sustainable development goes hand in hand with a passion for durability. The recently sold Millhanger Farmhouse is a perfect example of our approach to building original homes that will last a lifetime, whilst consciously integrating sustainable technologies.

Delivered in collaboration with RHB Partnership LLP, MEP consultants for the scheme, Millhanger Farmhouse uses renewable energy technologies to reduce its reliance on traditional energy sources.

It is clear that intuitive solutions like those outlined in the link below will become critical in building homes that are not only durable but also aligned with the evolving regulatory landscape.

The next few months will no doubt be testing for the development and construction industry, with changes to systems and processes inevitable, but they also present an opportunity to continue building projects that are both well designed and future proof.
