One of Chelsea’s most iconic sites has received planning approval from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) for a transformative redevelopment at the prominent intersection of Sloane Avenue and Walton Street.
‘We’re excited to begin work on this iconic and distinctive site at the intersection of South Kensington and Chelsea. It’s a privilege to be collaborating with Tribeca and Darling Associates to bring our shared vision to life.
Together, we aim to create a landmark mixed-use building that will enhance and celebrate the unique character of the Brompton Cross area.’ Andrew Dunn, Founder and CEO of Finchatton
The site is owned by Tribeca Holdings Limited, and the project will be designed by Finchatton, who will oversee all aspects of the architectural and interior design. The scheme includes a striking new Parisian-inspired façade, that will reinvigorate this prominent site in Brompton Cross and complement the architectural character of the surrounding area, including the historic Bibendum building opposite.
The approved plans cover the demolition of Elden House, the existing 1960s building best known as housing the Joseph store, and the construction of a new six-storey building. The development will comprise 24 luxury apartments on the upper floors and prime retail space at ground level.
Construction is scheduled to commence in Q4 2025.
